During his slower songs and ballads, it was such an intimate moment to see the crowd wave their camera lights, especially when he sang songs with special meaning to him such as "A Little Too Much" and "Ruin". He's such a down-to-earth, humble guy and the passion he has in music is admirable. Shawn Mendes is my idol and inspiration and to be able to see him at my first concert is an experience I will always treasure. Overall, this was the best experience of my life. From other concerts I've seen on YouTube, he walked all over the arena. Shawn only went into small parts of the crowd at the front.

It perfectly complemented the Illuminate themed tour with neon lights. The background LED lights connected in conjunction with his singing and oh my, I have to say, it helped lighten up and amplify the concert atmosphere. What enthralled me the most was how coordinated and intense the lights and sound were. He even sang covers of Castle on the Hill while he played on piano as well as Kings of Leon, "Use Somebody" before transitioning into his signature hit, "Treat You Better". Shawn performed about 23 songs, give or take, including a medley of his old songs from his debut album, Handwritten. Every performance felt unique and different to his studio recordings, in a good way. There wasn't a moment in the show where he did not shine vocally. There were no playback audio, which was amazing because he got to show off his vocal ability. There were no impurities in his singing and I loved the complete rawness of his vocals. It was the most magical and thrilling moment of my life to be able to attend Shawn Mendes' concert in Bangkok. Everything there was so well organized and so beautiful! Even if it was on a Sunday and my voice was totally gone on the next day… THANK YOU FOR THIS INCREDIBLE SHOW!!! Also this idea of giving every fan an armband lighting up during his songs is genius! The whole crowd looked so beautiful all the time! And it was also very great that we all had chairs to sit down, even in the pit so no one passes out, which happen a lot during concerts. The visuals at this show were just so amazingly beautiful and I'll never forget the vibes they gave me. I was very close to the rose on the B-stage and I think that this rose was really powerful. I knew every lyric of every song and even if sometimes people were looking at me weirdly I tried not to care because I was having the best moment of my life! He talked to us, really cared about us, and sang with us so many times! When he was on the B-stage, he was having his little soft solo guitar and I screamed "I love you!" as loud as possible and he looked in my direction and smiled!!! This was the death of me I was so happy and couldn't stop crying. The visuals, the lightnings, the music, and then him! I have been waiting for so many years to see him so it really felt like a dream to me… I really sang my heart out during the entire show. When Shawn went on stage I cried so much it was so beautiful. We always wanted to get closer but we had to stay there, which was a shame, but I also understand that it was for everyone's safety.

We still had our minute up close to her! She put so much energy in her songs and it was wo emotional at the same time. Alessia Cara went on stage when no one was expecting it and it was so random I couldn't believe it! Me and my friends went straight to the front row but a security guard asked us to go back to our seats which were just kind of far away. This was the best show I've EVER been to. He has also since been the recipient of the ‘Choice Web Star: Music’ Award at the Teen Choice Awards.

He also featured on The Vamps cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s hit single “Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart)” released on October 12th 2014, the song would go on to chart in Australia, New Zealand and South America, as well as UK where it placed at number 9 in the Singles Chart. The release of course features the single “Life of the Party” which is track one. The EP sold a staggering 48,000 copies it it’s first week of release, making it firmly to number 5 in the Billboard 200. Mendes released his eponymous debut EP on July 28th 2014, following a tour with Austin Mahone. He has since become one of the youngest artists to have a debut song in the Billboard hot 100, with his first single making it to number 24, at the age of 15 years old. He earned himself millions of views, and of course followers in just a few months, and that is when he caught the attention of manager, Andrew Gertler in January 2014. Mendes hails from a suburb of Toronto called Pickering, and began to post videos of him singing whilst singing renditions of the most popular songs in the charts accompanied by his guitar on the popular 6-second video app, ‘Vine’ in 2013.
